About Kyliah
she/her

I first became interested in the birthing journey after watching a documentary called The Business of Being Born during college. I was awestruck by the doulas and midwives’ unrelenting support, knowledge, and flexibility for the birthing persons — and just how powerful the labor and delivery was. But it wasn’t until the overturn of Roe v. Wade, continuing to limit our ability to make our own choices informed choices on our reproductive care, and the ongoing mistreatment and distrust toward Black, Brown and Indigenous women when it comes to our births and our bodies, that I realized I needed to deepen my advocacy. I want to help people not only reclaim agency over their bodies — but also reclaim their birth journeys.

I have a deep passion for supporting children and families through maneuvering mental health challenges, wellness, and normalizing mental health support. I have been trained in a variety of different techniques including: Child and Adult Mental Health First Aid, CBT, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and trauma informed care approaches.
There's this quote that says, "While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” Children are the leaders of our next generation! Having worked in different settings as a School Social Worker, Behavior, Therapist, Teacher, and supporting in a nursery, I have learned and have been so grateful for the wisdom and relationships that I have fostered from the children that I have come across. I have spent many years working alongside children and their families while simultaneously learning and understanding their developmental milestones and own individual uniqueness. This is why I love birth work. Pregnancy and even preconception are truly the introduction to not only your own journey, but your baby's too!

My Approach
Embracing your Mind, Body, and Spirit
Rooted Embraces is not here to only provide an uplifting and empowering experience, but more importantly to give a feeling of a warm embrace.
Building a strong relationship together and curating a safe space that affirms you mentally, physically, and emotionally is essential to having a labor and delivery that aligns with your hopes and desires. We provide trauma responsive and cultural conscious support, recognizing that bringing life into the world is multifaceted and an incredibly personal process.
Pre-conception, pregnancy, labor, and postpartum are such significant and sacred experiences for a Mama / birthing person and a family to live through. As your doula/birth sister, we are in this together and I will be by your side throughout your entire journey.
